Artist Info: George Augustus Williams was a talented English landscape painter during the Victorian era, who was born on 4 May 1814 in London. He hailed from the renowned Williams family of painters, and his father, Edward Williams, taught him painting skills. Although he never received any formal instruction, George's distinct style can be seen in his riverscapes, moonlit landscapes, seascapes, and views of Kent, Wales, and other places. He and his wife, Caroline, had four children and lived in Barnes, London for over fifty years. After Caroline's passing, their daughter, also named Caroline, became his housekeeper instead of marrying, in order to care for her father. George passed away at the age of 87 on 26 May 1901 in Barnes, London, following in the footsteps of his artistic family.
